Using Your TexFlex Debit Card at Mail Service FAQs

Q: What is a TexFlex debit card?
A: The TexFlex debit card is used to deduct funds directly from the participant’s account; however, the TexFlex debit card can only be used to pay for an eligible health-related expense in the TexFlex program. More information about TexFlex can be found at www.ers.state.tx.us.

Q: Can I use my TexFlex debit card for a current prescription mail order?
A: Yes, you can use your TexFlex debit card to pay for a current order or an order that is still in process.

Q: Can Caremark keep my TexFlex debit card number on file to pay for my future orders?
A: Yes, you can keep your TexFlex debit card or other type of credit or debit card on file to pay for all future orders. You can designate which card number you want to use for future orders at www.caremark.com/ers, on your mail service order form, or by calling Caremark toll-free at (888) 886-8490.

Q: If I have an existing balance and want to place a current order, can I use my TexFlex debit card?
A: No. You will need to use an alternate form of payment to pay the existing balance first, then you can place your current order using your TexFlex card.

Q: If I can’t use my TexFlex debit card for an outstanding balance, what other options do I have to pay for the outstanding balance?
A: Use an alternate form of payment, such as another debit card or a credit card. Once you pay the outstanding balance, you can submit your invoice, proof of payment, and reimbursement claim form to PayFlex for reimbursement through your TexFlex account. For more information about PayFlex, please visit www.ers.state.tx.us.

Q: My doctor’s office is going to phone or fax in my order using the FastStart® program. How can I request that you use my TexFlex debit card for that order?
A: If you are using the FastStart® program, go to www.caremark.com/ers or call Customer Care toll‑free at (888) 886-8490 before you place your order to make sure we have your TexFlex debit card number on file and marked as the method of payment you would like to use for all future orders.
